This is a really basic broth, I have found if I keep it simple I am more likely to make it often. Also, I don't add veggies - less work and I read somewhere that it lasts longer in the fridge without veggies and I often use it as a base for soups anyway.
fresh turmeric5-8 cm piece or 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder
fresh ginger5-10 cm piece
1teaspoonsalt
pepper
filtered waterenough to cover bones
1tablespoonvinegar
Instructions
Slow Cooker
Place all ingredients in the slow cooker.Cook in the slow cooker on low for 12-24 hours.
Strain using a seive into a glass jug and discard the bone etc. Either use immediately or store in glass jars in the fridge or freezer. Freeze up to 1-2 months, remember to leave a 5 cm gap at the top of the jar to allow for expansion in the freezer.
Stove Top
Place all ingredients in a large pot on the stove.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for at least 10-12 hours.
Strain using a seive into a glass jug and discard the bone etc. Either use immediately or store in glass jars in the fridge or freezer. Freeze up to 1-2 months, remember to leave a 5 cm gap at the top of the jar to allow for expansion in the freezer.
