These Sourdough pancakes are so good, supa yummy, light and fluffy. Quick and easy to make, with a few basic ingredients… we have them most Saturday mornings, topped with fruit. Our favourite is banana and berries, with some vanilla yoghurt and on special occasions ice cream 🙂 xx
Such a great way to use my leftover sourdough starter. I used to compost it, but now instead of composting it, I pop it in a jar and kept it in the fridge…
Pancake making tips
- We use a non-stick plugin hot plate that is designed for pancakes and pikelets. Easy to use and clean. I am not a fan of non-stick due to the chemicals used, but in this case, it just makes it so easy, I keep using it
- If you use a frying pan you can get the pancakes a little crispy, just add a small amount of butter, coconut oil to your pan and heat before adding the pancake mixture
- You can make this batter ahead of time, just hold off from adding the baking soda until right before cooking
- The pancake is ready to flip when all the bubbles have popped and there are no more bubbles coming up
- Serve with yoghurt for a healthy dose of probiotics, our favourite is vanilla – but if you are dairy-free check out this post from Cultures for Health on how to make dairy-free yoghurt
