These oat pancakes are quick and easy to make, with a few basic ingredients… We have them topped with fruit. Our favourite is banana and berries, with some vanilla yoghurt and on special occasions ice cream or cream. My new favourite kitchen gadget is the my stainless steel whipped cream dispenser. So much fun to use 🙂
Nourishing info on Oats
The carbs in oats are mostly starches and fiber. Oats pack more protein and fat than most other grains and are a good source of beta glucan, a unique, soluble fiber linked to multiple health benefits.
Oats offer high amounts of many vitamins and minerals, such as manganese, phosphorus, copper, B vitamins, iron, selenium, magnesium, and zinc.
Pancake making tips
- We use a non-stick plugin hot plate that is designed for pancakes and pikelets. Easy to use and clean. I am not a fan of non-stick due to the chemicals used, but in this case, it just makes it so easy, I keep using it
- If you use a frying pan you can get the pancakes a little crispy, just add a small amount of butter, coconut oil to your pan and heat before adding the pancake mixture
- The pancake is ready to flip when all the bubbles have popped and there are no more bubbles coming up
- Serve with yoghurt for a healthy dose of probiotics, our favourite is vanilla – but if you are dairy-free check out this post from Cultures for Health on how to make dairy-free yoghurt
